Heart Soldier by auralife Heart Soldier by auralife
My new Sailor Moon fanart! I've been refining the new style, and I like the direction it's headed in :D Best of all, it's harder, so it makes me pay more attention to what I'm doing.

Yahoo! Finally got inspiration to finish the BG! Inspiration = Autumn! Please look here if you'd like a more in-depth look at the journey of Heart Soldier:…

No, she has no mouth - I kept trying to draw one, but it always looked stupid, so I just said "whateva" and left it :D Kinda looks more sensual without one, anyway :D

Redesigned the uniform a little bit again.. I wanted to do the skirt that is yellow, blue, and white, but it didn't pan out D: HEARTS! And, ya know, I know Mamoru calls her meatball head in the English series, but to me, her hair has always resembled doughnuts. Yum. And thank God that I managed to get her face to look decent. I think I should upload the sketch to this piece so you can see what I'm talking about, but believe me when I say the original face looked BAD. If you follow the in-depth link above you can see the sketch. Ick.

I'm so happy that with every picture I do, I improve. I recently printed out my favorite projects and hung them in our living room, and I have to say, looking at the journey I've taken, I can't believe how far I've come. Even from earlier this year! It's crazy. I started drawing in 2006, but didn't really get into it until 2009. And ever since then, I've been auralife :D

Very beautiful. Love the design.

I really love this fuku design, Aura, it's really lovely, and your accessory desgin are so intricate and cute!
There is something bothering me about her anatomy, if you don't mind some feedback? There's a sort of "dip" or "bend" on her right side, I can see what you were trying to do, but the human body doesn't bend that far inward, if that makes sense? It's more of a soft curve, rather than a hard bend.

Overall, I love the image, and the design, your anatomy and colouration skills are really improving, and the background really has a lovely, warm, autumn feel to it. it's quite relaxing to look at, to be honest :giggle:
I adore her earrings, makes me wish I had my ears pierced so I could have a pair of similar design, ha, ha :XD:
Also, I apologize if my critique wasn't very clear, I'm quite rubbish when explaining things OTL ^^;

No, really, thank you so much! I really do need help in the anatomy area - no matter what I seem to do, I always screw up the torso - I need to watch a tutorial or something >.<

Thanks so much for the compliments! Your art is so pretty and you're so talented, so it's really nice to hear such praise from you ^^ I iz jealous!

I miss Autumn already - it SNOWED here last night!

I wouldn't say that you "screwed up" the torso, you just made a slight error is all, it still looks amazing! ;)
You're absolutely welcome! Aww, I'm not that great, but I appreciate the compliment

No way, really? :ohnoes: We're not due to get snow for a few more weeks, I'm really not looking forward to winter, I hate the cold TT^TT
I miss Autumn too >.<

Wait, sorry, I was kind of spaced-out the other day from how cold it was - which groove was the one we were talking about? The one by the ribs or on the hip?

Yeah, and some of it stuck, too D: I got to the library, and it was kind of nice, but cold out, I go to LEAVE the library and it's blowing snow! And I didn't bring any money with me so I got to ride home in the snow on a bike D: That was a fun two miles...

It's okay, I'm not very good at explaining things, so i thought it'd be better if I red-lined it, to show you instead, I really hope you don't mind, I know I should have asked you first >.<…
You said that you were having a few issues with her mouth, so I thought I'd try and help with that, but she looks amazing with or without a mouth, ha, ha :XD:
With her arm, if you put your own arm at the angle, you'd discover that it doesn't quite curve so much near the elbow, again, explaining isn't one of my strong points, so hopefully the red-lines will show you what I mean. ^^;
The red heart on her belt was slightly off-center too, but that's just me being a perfectionist/nit-picky ^^;

I love your artwork, and you're very skilled, so I hope you don't mind me red-lining it, anatomy is hard, I'm still learning myself, but I really enjoy being able to help when I can, and I really enjoy seeing you improve  :huggle:

Oh wow, riding home on a bike sounds like hard work D:
I hope you got home safely!
We still haven't got snow yet, but we've been forecast with gale force winds this week, which should be fun
Not looking forward to November/December time, we almost always get snow near Christmas :ohnoes:

Oh, yup, yup! That's what I thought you were talking about, but then I thought you might be talking about the dip in her hip, so I thought I'd ask >.<

No, I don't mind. Really. I thank everyone who's ever helped by pointing out errors, cause I'm really bad at noticing them for myself! I went through this period where I was drawing my foreheads way too high, and someone finally pointed it out, thank God, otherwise I might still be doing it! :P

Do you know any good anatomy tutorials? I tried using that one where you use shapes to make the body, but it looked too boxy D:

Wow... that's some pretty strong wind! I hope your house is built for that kind of weather :O

Today was a nicer day... sun shining!

Dear God... you know how we had all those inspections? We FINALLY get done with them, and then at the end of the day after our final inspection, our landlady dropped-kicked us in the stomach with the news that Monday (today) they would be coming around doing "necessary maitenence (or however it's spelled) work". :chainsaw: I AM SO SICK OF HAVING PEOPLE JUDGING OUR HOUSE D:<

((Sorry for the late reply >.< :forgiveme: ))

Don't worry about it, I think it happens with all, or at least most artists, I have trouble noticing some of my mistakes as well :)
Ha, ha, I went through a period where I was drawing my necks way too long, and some people pointed it out, in my opinion, I think it's helpful when people point out your errors, otherwise, how else would you improve? :giggle:

I have a book on anatomy, so I don't look up tutorials very often, but I'll see what I can find for you :P ;)
*Naschi has some pretty good and helpful tutorials, here's one on proportions:… but she does have others as well, it may be worth to have a look in her gallery :aww:…

Ha, ha, yeah it is, we normally get rough weather around this time of year :)
Don't let it bother you, it's probably just routine, I had my housing association do a six-week check up after we moved in, and they do come out for maintenance work sometimes too, so don't let it get to you. :huggle:
thank you very much for nice words.
I am really happy, that you are like my tutorials *o*
Thank you.
